Year 1 Farm Trip

On Wednesday 24th March 2016 we visited the Foxburrows Farm!
Our main reason was to see the meerkats!  To consolidate our topic 'Why can’t the Meerkat live in the North Pole?'

We learnt that one meerkat stands guard on a tower-like post and keeps an eye out (watching out for danger) whilst the others play and eat.  They then take turns allowing the guard to res, play and eat too!

We saw three meerkats and lots of other animals .  "It was a fun day!"

Have a peek into our morning.

"You are a credit to your school." An old lady said to us on the bus.

Alighting Bus 247 and entering the Farm in a smart and orderly fashion.

sharing thoughts

"Oh! This is going to be amazing!"

looking closely at nature
"These chickens are humongous!"

"They're not both chickens, the grey one is a rooster, remember?"

Learning more about the animals in the farm's information shed.

"These animals look so, so fluffy."

"Look! A gigantic pig!"

CT: I wonder what this means...
"This sign means that the animal in here can bite."
CT: Awesome!

"Hey!!! See, one meerkat standing as a guard on a high place watching out for danger when the others playing."

"Just like we learned in class!"

"Wow, he's turning his head left and right quickly!"

Some playtime before carrying on ... just like we do at school.

Taking a short break

One minute the peacock is on the ground, next minute it's up a tree!

"How did the peacock get up the there?"

"It's a bird remember, it can fly."

After an interesting and educative visit, it was time to return to school.
The children washed their hands - taking turns sensibly.

Reflective...

Off we went.

Consolidating ...

"We saw this one."
"And that one!"

What an eventful and successful day!

"Thanks to all our adults especially the parents!"
